I’m back, baby!! =)
——————-
Today I have to bid farewell to the best parking spot I’ve ever had, and probably ever will have.
Sure was sweet while it lasted. I’m so spoiled at this point... It’s in the basement of my building, just a short walk to an elevator that goes up directly to my floor. Even on the worst cold & rainy days, I’ve gotten in the habit of leaving my jacket in the car...
A new, big tenant moved in and they need spots, so I’m out. The garage I’m moving to is still nice, fairly new & covered, with “safe” spots to be had, but it’s now a short walk across the street. #FirstWorldProblems

My roommate just put an offer in on a house with no garage, or really even a secured back yard. Currently use a parking garage where I live also, that has security too. Which is helpful in Detroit.
I feel you.

I have a free, name-reserved spot in the doctors’ garage. It’s a 7 minute walk through several buildings and two elevators, but it keeps me out of the weather and safe. If they ever try too take it away from me, I’ll quit.

I’ve got my name reserved spot in the private ramp, honestly part of my job criteria.

I made this spot a condition of my hire. It was put into the offer letter at my insistence. I’m not crossing a multi-lane street in bad weather to get to the regular employee garage. In fact, my student got hit by a pickup last year doing just that and spent several days in the hospital.

So, would you end up going with your roommate, or staying?

Sweet! And you have a very legitimate reason for wanting/needing that.
I’m just spoiled... =)

I do. I said that being in a wheelchair, I don’t want to have to cross a street full of trucks when the weather gets bad and the road gets slippery.

Going with. My rent will get cheaper living in a nicer place then our apartment. Car has to go outside, but I have school debt to pay off.

No :(, gonna drop the price a lot and make a fun ad this weekend. Going to drop the price on the more professional auto trader post too. If listing for $2k doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.

Future plans for the ND? Leaving stock until warranty’s up?

My own parking quest is nearing it’s conclusion. Only 14 spots left, and at 2 per day (breaking my previous rules) I’ll finish in a little over a week.

I presume that your space has more room on either side, too, right?
That’s critical, for you to have room to get out, obviously, but also because from what I’ve seen, doctors do NOT know how to park! My wife’s cars get pummeled with door dings (not from her) which she blames on the doctors’ lot at the hospitals she’s at...

Oh yes. I’m in a corner with no way to box me in and a doctor’s A6 next to me. I’m safe.

Winter wheels and tires when the Crossfire sells, that I also want to use for rally cross. Then probably a muffler, but mostly leave it stock. First warranty and most expensive car, I don’t want to mess it up

That’s a mighty fine looking automobile.
Shame about the spot though.

I wish my hip implant glowed, or something, so people wouldn’t stare at me when I get out of a handicapped spot. Or so I could park in at work without people wanting to key my car.

If you have a plate or hang tag, that’s all you should need for people to just move along. Lots of folks who have heart conditions and such also need those spots, even if you can’t see.

One would think. But I think it’s compounded by the fact I’m under 30, so people assume I’m just fine. I think outside of my family and very close friends, everyone’s response to my hip replacement was, “But you’re too young for that!” Actually, I’m not, and I’m about ten years older than a lot my doctor’s patients.
But people are dumb, and I shrug it off.

Yep, now on the good side, you should hopefully recover to non-disabled function, providing there is no lingering underlying pathology that you’re dealing with.

Good call. I’m kind of ruined for power at this point... I’m currently watching FM videos and trying to decide whether I want the turbo or SC when I pick up an ND for $10k down the road. =)

My right hip still needs to be done too, and my knee really hurts from having to limp on it for the last twenty years. But I’m able to suck it up when the handicapped spot is full at Costco. I’ve always been able to, but for the last year it was never pretty.

These things seem to be like Lays. Nobody can have just one.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I park 10 feet from the back door of the store I work at, no where near other actual parking spots. #justsmalltownthigs.

I dread the day that my apartment rents out the spaces next to my cars. I have two spaces front to back with a space on either side of both cars completely empty and then a pole on either side before there are other cars. It is my nice big private personal car work area. Plus I have easy entry/exit without having to deal with the speed bumps of doom in the aisles. My Miata will scrape at greater than 2mph over those damn speed bumps.

Just play your stereo VERY LOUDLY at all hours of the day so that no one in their right mind would want to live close to you.

Well parking is nowhere near my apartment. That is 6 floors below me, and somewhere in the maze of garage space after the elevator. And if I were to be playing a stereo loudly in the garage, that would fill up the entire thing lol. I have used my power tools and that shit was painfully loud. Along with hammers, those are ear piercing in the enclosed environment.
